a sunny welcome – omaha baby and child photographer

this weekend our family welcomed a brand new baby boy to the family! meet Mason Anthony on his birthday! Both sisters a little unsure at first, were quick to share plenty of kisses and snuggles – oh and pokes too :) I just love the pure wonderment and love on mom, dad and grandma’s faces on baby’s first day of life. You’ll see plenty of this little guy in the future, but for now, welcome to the world baby Mason!

a sunny gift – omaha child and family photographer

First of all – Happy Earth Day to you all and happy b-earth-day to my adorable and amazing little sister! I think it’s no coincidence that my sister was born on Earth day and happens to be the most ecological-minded person I know. She’s so inspiring and thoughtful in all of her actions, when I call her my “hippie sister” it’s with pride, love and admiration for her unique personality. Both of my sisters remind me with each minute we spend together that we were put on this earth to love and inspire one another – and somehow the way we go about that always involves quite a bit of laughter.

My family and friends are my biggest inspiration, and the opportunity to contribute a gift that may inspire other families by showcasing the love they share while capturing each piece of personality is a pretty amazing one that I just can’t pass up! Here’s a peek at the special package that I’ve put together for a few local charities over the past couple of months, including the Sunshine Kids Fundraiser hosted by Prudential Ambassador Real Estate this Thursday, April 25th, and the First Annual Charity Golf Event, benefiting the Children’s Hospital in Omaha, hosted by Aerotek on Friday, May 10th. I hope you’ll help me in spreading the word about these wonderful coming events that will both benefit amazing, deserving families and children.

a sunny life: breakfast time – omaha baby and child photographer

I take every opportunity I can to hang out with my baby cousin Emma – she’s so cool! Little Miss 13-and-a-half months old is such an explorer and gives more smiles than anyone I know! So of course that includes breakfast time, yogurt-face and all. We had a fun morning getting ready for daycare, even though I think she would have love staying home and playing with cousin Jess all day!

just for fun – omaha child photographer

I just discovered the cutest iPhone app this weekend and HAD to share the new face of “Jess’s iPhone”! The app is called CocoPPA, and while it’s not the most user-friendly (I hate to admit I spent an hour of my life on this), I love the result! There are a ton of icons to choose from that you can set up to link through to your apps or to webpages (like a bookmark). I have an obsession with all things adorable, from file folders to water bottles, so of course this is a perfect fit! If you decide to take the time, I hope you’ll add a sunnyheartphotography.com bookmark – why not!?

vendors i love: tweed couch – omaha child and family photographer

I am so excited to kick-off another new blog series today featuring stories and gorgeous glimpses of my favorite vendors, products and people – I think you’re going to love it! Each one truly inspires me, and I hope it will inspire you as well.

First up is a peek inside the truly one-of-a-kind home accessories and furniture shop: Tweed Couch in Rockbrook Village, right here in Omaha. Their tagline really says it all: “We like to think of Tweed Couch as the shop where the savvy design enthusiast comes to be inspired.” Every time I visit the store, I’m greeted by a unique and different arrangement with new one-of-a-kind pieces. No two items are alike, and after that unique item is purchased, a completely different piece takes it’s place.

So how did Tweed Couch come to be?
Owner and Designer Diane Flynn, with her 25 years of design experience, had always wanted to own her own shop and share her vision of bringing together comfort, nostalgia and style. Her creative background and farm upbringing taught her that if you need something, you figure out how to make it. You can definitely see that outlook throughout the shop.

What’s in a name?
The name “Tweed Couch” is credited to Diane’s daughter, who came up with the name after much banter between their creative minds to come up with something that says “unique style”.

Where does Diane’s inspiration come from?
This can be summed up with a recipe:
A cup of vision
A dash of childhood memories
Pour in much research and finish it with a twist of fun!

What is Diane’s favorite part of design?
Bringing a client’s disjointed desires to a complete and beautiful living space.

Learning about the story and inspiration behind Tweed Couch was as much fun as visiting the store, and I hope you agree! With my focus on creating art for your home, what better way to complement that artwork than with unique furniture and accessories? It truly gives you the opportunity to turn your house into a warm & cozy home and reflect your family’s style. To get in touch with Diane or for shop hours and information, visit TweedCouch.com or on Facebook.com/TweedCouch.
